Terms of Service
Effective date: [to be set at launch]
Draft for founder review before launch. Items marked [confirm] need a decision or a detail. This draft is not legal advice — have it reviewed by a Nigerian lawyer before going live.
These Terms are the agreement between you and Errandly (“Errandly”, “we”, “us”) [confirm registered company name and RC number]. They explain how buying and running errands on Errandly works, what we promise you, and what we ask of you. We've tried to write them plainly. Please read them — especially the parts on cancellations and our responsibility to you.
Agreeing to these Terms
By creating an account, joining the waitlist or using Errandly, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Errandly.
What Errandly is (and isn't)
Errandly is a marketplace that connects students who need something done (buyers) with other students who do it (runners). We provide the app, verify that users are students, hold payments in escrow, confirm delivery and help resolve problems.
Runners are independent. They are not our employees, agents or contractors, and they decide which errands to take. A runner acts as the buyer's proxy: they buy what you asked for, from the vendor you named (or a reasonable alternative you agree to), on your behalf. We are not the seller of the items a runner buys and don't make, prepare or inspect them. Vendors are responsible for the quality and safety of what they sell.
Who can use Errandly
- You must be a current student of a campus where Errandly operates (currently Kwara State University) and at least 18 years old [confirm].
- You must give us your real name, a working phone number, your matric number and a clear photo of your own student ID card.
- You can place orders once your ID is submitted. You can accept errands as a runner only after we've approved your ID.
- One account per person. You can be a buyer, a runner, or both, on the same account.
Your account
Keep your sign-in details private — you're responsible for activity on your account. Tell us straight away through support if you think someone else has accessed it. Keep your details accurate; payouts can only go to a bank account in the name we verified.
Orders, payments and escrow
When you place an order you pay Errandly through our payment provider, Bachs. Your payment is held by us — not given to the runner — until delivery is confirmed (or a dispute is resolved). This is what we mean by escrow. Your order is shown to runners only after the payment has cleared.
Prices and fees
Before you pay, we show you an itemised total:
- the item price (or your budget, for variable-cost errands);
- a delivery fee of ₦1,000 for one stop, plus ₦200 for each extra stop (up to 3), which goes to your runner; and
- a flat service charge of ₦300, which is how Errandly is paid.
Fees can change, but the fees shown at checkout are the ones that apply to that order. We don't add surge pricing.
Petrol, market and other variable-cost errands
Where the final cost isn't known in advance, you set a budget and we hold it. Your runner uploads a photo of the receipt and the actual cost before heading to you:
- If it cost less, the difference is returned to your Errandly wallet when the order completes.
- If it cost more (up to 50% over budget), market and general errands need a top-up before delivery. For petrol, the runner buys within your budget unless they choose to request a higher budget before purchase. Any unused top-up returns to your wallet. Runners must call you before going further over budget.
- If the receipt doesn't look right, you can open a dispute before confirming delivery.
Delivery confirmation and your PIN
Each order has a 4-digit delivery PIN that only the buyer can see. Give it to your runner only once you have your order. Entering the PIN confirms delivery and releases payment to the runner — so sharing it early is like paying before you receive the goods. After 5 wrong attempts, PIN entry locks.
If the PIN can't be used, the runner can submit a handover photo and note instead, and the buyer confirms in the app. If the buyer doesn't respond within 12 hours, the order goes to an Errandly administrator to review — it's never released automatically.
Cancellations, refunds and transport advances
For petrol and off-campus errands, trusted runners may receive a small, fixed transport advance as soon as they accept, so they can afford to travel. It's paid out of your payment and counts toward what the runner earns. This affects what happens if an order doesn't go ahead:
| What happens | Result |
|---|---|
| You cancel before any runner accepts | Full refund. |
| You cancel after a runner accepts but before they start buying | Refund, minus the transport advance if one was paid — the dispatch fee becomes non-refundable once a runner is on the way. You're told this before you pay. |
| A runner is already buying or delivering | You can't cancel, but you can open a dispute if something is wrong. |
| The runner drops the task without good reason | Your order goes back to other runners at no extra cost. Any advance becomes a debt on the runner's wallet, and the drop is recorded as a report. |
| Something goes wrong on our side | We cover the cost, including any advance. |
Refunds go back to your original payment method where possible. If that isn't possible, the refund is credited to your Errandly wallet, which you can withdraw once you've added verified bank details.
Additional terms for runners
- Only accept errands you can complete promptly. You can hold up to two active errands at a time.
- At each stop you can ask Errandly to pay the vendor directly from the buyer's escrowed budget, or pay yourself and be reimbursed from the buyer's funded budget, plus the delivery fee, when delivery is confirmed. For petrol, buy only within the funded budget; if more is needed, ask the buyer to raise it before buying. Vendor payments must only ever go to the vendor's own account — paying yourself or anyone else is fraud.
- Buy what was asked for. If it's unavailable or more expensive, call the buyer before substituting or spending more.
- Upload honest receipts. Altered or invented receipts are fraud and will lead to your account being closed and, where appropriate, reported.
- Keep status updates accurate (at the vendor, in line, on the way) — buyers rely on them.
- Instant transport advances are available only to runners with an established, well-rated record. They're fixed amounts set by Errandly.
- You're responsible for your own safety, transport and any taxes on your earnings. Follow campus rules and the law.
Wallet and payouts
- When a delivery is confirmed, your earnings are added to your Errandly wallet immediately.
- Earnings become withdrawable 2 hours after delivery. This short window lets us resolve a problem before money leaves the platform.
- Withdrawable funds are paid to your bank account in a daily batch at 11:59pm (Lagos time). The bank transfer fee of ₦50 per payout is deducted from that payout. Transport advances are sent instantly and we cover their fee.
- Payouts only go to a bank account registered in your own verified name; we check the name with your bank.
- Your wallet can go below zero (for example, if you keep an advance for an errand you didn't complete). A negative balance is recovered automatically from your next earnings. On its own, it doesn't stop you taking errands.
- If a dispute is decided against you within the 2-hour window, the earnings for that order are reversed.
Prohibited items and conduct
You must not use Errandly to buy, carry or arrange:
- illegal drugs, weapons, alcohol or tobacco for anyone under the legal age, or anything else unlawful to sell or possess;
- exam materials, assignments to submit as your own, or anything else that breaches university rules;
- stolen or counterfeit goods, or anything dangerous to carry (for example, fuel in unsuitable containers).
And you must not:
- harass, threaten or discriminate against anyone, or make anyone feel unsafe;
- arrange to pay or be paid outside Errandly for an errand found on Errandly — doing so removes every protection escrow gives you;
- open more than one account, use someone else's ID, or give false information;
- misuse reports or ratings, or try to interfere with the app or other users' accounts.
Ratings, reports and restrictions
After each completed errand, the buyer and runner can rate each other. Anyone can report a problem with an order. Reports are private.
If an account receives reports from several different people within a short period, it's automatically and temporarily restricted from accepting errands, and you'll see why in the app. A person reviews every automatic restriction, aiming to do so within 24–48 hours, and will either lift it, limit it (for example, to on-campus errands only) or extend it. Repeated or serious problems can lead to a longer restriction or closure.
Disputes
If something goes wrong, open a dispute from the order page while the order is in progress or within 2 hours of delivery. Payment for that order is frozen while an Errandly administrator reviews the evidence (order details, receipts, photos and what both of you tell us). We'll then release payment to the runner or refund the buyer, and explain the outcome. Our decision is final as far as the funds held on Errandly are concerned, but it doesn't affect any other legal rights you have.
Our responsibility to you
We work hard to keep Errandly safe and running, but we provide it “as is”. Errands are done by independent students, and items come from independent vendors, so we can't guarantee delivery times, the conduct of other users, or the quality of items.
To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim relating to an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order, and we aren't liable for indirect losses. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, including for fraud or negligence causing death or personal injury, or your rights under Nigerian consumer protection law.
You agree to cover losses we suffer because you broke these Terms or the law while using Errandly.
Closing or suspending accounts
You can ask us to close your account at any time. Any positive wallet balance will be paid to your verified bank account first; any negative balance remains owed. We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms, put others at risk, or that we're required to close by law. Where it's safe to, we'll tell you why.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If a dispute can't be resolved by talking to us first, it will be handled by the courts of Kwara State [confirm].
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as Errandly grows. If we make a significant change, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect. Changes never apply to orders already placed.
